Between China And Britain: Isolation Of Reasoning

No comments: Links to this post
In the past week, China's decision to and the execution of the 53 year old Briton, Akmal Shaikh has dominated the news. There are many for and against it. As mentioned in a previous post, the UK government surely stood to show their care for a citizen, which is good. But Britain failed this time to stop China.

Looking at the case, the raging squabble now, especially between UK and China is

Enough Talk Now Obama, Time For Action

No comments: Links to this post
So Obama is yet to understand that his optimistic fake speeches aren't working the wonder; huh? Why for damn-sake can't he get off his salesman's style and be real with things? What's all this with "We will not rest until we find all who were involved and hold them accountable."? A wise man do not set the mark high with his words but his actions.

Recently, he seem to be turning an apologist for his 'Yes, We Can" campaign phrase. Of course, it was easier to say than implement. All those hopes raised. Just twenty-two days to his one year in office, we are yet to see what have been achieved and sealed. At the rate it was said throughout campaign in 2008, he was the messiah and most of the sensational wagon-jumping crowd thought they would be in paradise by January 21 2009. But pity, even their blind Nobel peace prize aren't hasn't brought the Midas touch.

New Airports’ Security: Privacy Or Your Life?

No comments: Links to this post

With the recent development in the failed bombing attempt by my own country man Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, security once again is not just being reviewed in almost all airports, it is being tightened. This brings in tougher measures, delays, time wasting and consumption as well as restrictions on passengers' behaviour and possessions.

As this develops, what mesmerizes me is how most people have turned to criticising these measures apparently being instituted in good faith – to protect one and all. One of the main potential introductions to security would be a body scanner that will 'show it all'. This particular machine has prompted a lot of criticism from concerned passengers. Their grouse: personal privacy. Damn.

Nigeria Government: Always Running Away From Her Responsibility

2 comments: Links to this post
When people blame you for not being patriotic, it leans on the fact that such people do not try to understand the geography that might have moulded you.

Being a Nigeria has many discouraging facts about it. I must try to ignore the fact of being an outlaw for the simple reason that you are a gay, lesbian or transgender person in this instance. But for some other many things that do not give people the joy of wanting to die for their country of origin.

Nigerian Terrorist Culprit: Terrorism acts not Anti-homosexuality laws

No comments: Links to this post
Last night I watched in trepidation as the news of yet another terrorism attempt broke. The Delta Airline plane flying from Amsterdam to Detroit had about 280 passengers and was 20 minutes from landing. The result of this evil plot would have been another deadly disaster only equivalent to the Lockerbie accident 20 years ago.

The USA should follow this to the later and find out in truth what this could

The Archbishop Of York... After Two Months & Ten Days

No comments: Links to this post

Just two days ago, I was wondering where the voice and stand of the Archbishop of York was on the oppression of gay and lesbian people in his country of origin. I almost imagined that the he has found refuge and complacence in England, land of hope and (his) glory, hence he has turned his back on the same place he started. I pray not so.

But his quietness did not help matters. In the actual sense, his response coming today, two

Sanctions Would Surely Work For Human Rights Defence

The news last night that Lithuania has had a wise rethink on laws against gay people is indeed welcomed. It also improves their standing in the challenge of fairness and justice that man must not operate and oppress man.

Exactly ten days ago at an event in the Houses of Parliament, I strongly put the view to the Foreign Office

Archbishops Shying Away From Taking A Stand

No comments: Links to this post

Finally, after all the hide, dodge and avoid, weakling Rowan Williams have considered it safe to challenge Uganda. Mind you, he only faced up to, not condemn the bill. In his words, "of shocking severity... I can't see how it could be supported by any Anglican who is committed to what the Communion has said in recent decades," he said in a newspaper interview on Saturday.

Copenhagen Climate Change Summit Was Planned To Fail

No comments: Links to this post
The whole nonsense about climate change has come to be exactly what the likes of me predicted two weeks ago.

"Come this week, the so-called world leaders are gathering in Copenhagen to waste even more resources. In what they claim to be their solution summit – and we know it IS NOT – they will be presiding over NOTHING other than devising further ways of keeping

Gay soldier Ben Rakestrow comes out... - Awesome

No comments: Links to this post

A 21-year-old member of the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment (2RTR) has become one of the first British openly gay soldiers serving in a major conflict.

Trooper Ben Rakestrow, who yesterday completed his operational tour of service in Helmand province, Afghanistan spoke to the press about coming out to his colleagues.

"It was difficult to start with," he said. "I didn't know how they'd react," he is quoted as saying.
Mr Rakestrow came out to his colleagues while on a training exercise on Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire. He arrived late for exercises one morning after going out to a nightclub with a friend who knew he was gay.

Protesters urge: "Drop the Anti-Homosexuality Bill"

London - 10 December 2009

Nearly 100 protesters rallied outside the Ugandan Embassy in London on Human Rights Day to support the Ugandan LBGTI community. They called on the Ugandan government to drop its draconian Anti-Homosexuality Bill, which is currently being debated by the Ugandan parliament.

Under this proposed law, LGBTI Ugandans will face execution for certain homosexual

Demonstration Against Ugandan Anti-Homosexuality Bill, London

2 comments: Links to this post
Videos have been posted here of our peaceful demonstration at the Ugandan High Commission office in London on Human Rights Day, December 10th, 2009. It was a lively event with various inspiring and brave speakers who cut across walks of life; watch my speech here. Watch these videos and your feedback and support will be welcomed. Pictures of the day are available here; These photos are free to use. Please credit Brett Lock of OutRage!

Please go here to read the Ugandan Anti-homosexual Bill; it is extremely draconian and unimaginable to happen in this day and age. But freedom we demand and nothing but absolute freedom and equal rights.

Standing Up For Our Rights Against Ugandan Anti-Homosexual Bill

1 comment: Links to this post

The struggle continues. Like I said in the post below, the Lesbian, Gay, bisexual & Transgender (LGBT) communities across the world are continuing to work hard and make a mark no matter how difficult. We no more wish to be tolerated but to be seen as part of the society.

So earlier today, I joined other proud African gay and Lesbian people with the support of Outrage and many friends of different race and colour as we stood in front of the Ugandan High Commission to show our refusal of the Ugandan government's proposed draconian law to jail and sentence gay people to death for who they are.

The demonstration drew attention from various media including BBC World Service. The atmosphere was charged as everyone, including Students, Trade Unionists, Activists, passers-by, tourists, etc, all join to make our mark. And when it was my turn to speak, I made the point that we are no more begging to be tolerated but we are making the mark that we, African gay men and women exists and that we are proud.

We hope that our effort today in the cold afternoon of London would go a long way to send the message to Uganda and the many African countries, mine (Nigeria) included who are or have enacted laws against our basic rights of freedom, that we are not hiding away from having a debate and reclaiming our natural and basic rights.

Episcopal Church Entrenches Equality - Lesbian Bishop-Elect

No comments: Links to this post
After the first equality bomb detonation by the American Episcopal Church, it has gone further to confirm it wasn't a mistake; oh! how I love these American libertine manners.

Undoubtedly, reports coming out this evening indicates Rowan Williams, the cold – not even lukewarm – archbishop of Canterbury is, as usual, 'confused'. But that can not be regarded as breaking

Climate Change Movement Is The New World Religion

No comments: Links to this post
The Climate Change saga is continuing. While it is a reality that the climate (nature) is continuously changing (evolving), it is an utter disappointment that once again, some crop of greedy idiots have cleverly created a massive control scam and business out of it through their endless scaremongering. The world will never stop seeing such; starting from the days of religion, to this internet age, man has always

“Not About Meredith, It’s About Amanda” – Such An Error Of Judgement

No comments: Links to this post
At last, it seems Meredith Kercher's murder has got justice. Amanda Knox, 22 and Raffaele Sollecito, 25 were convicted to a 26 and 25 years prison sentence respectively.

As much as it seemed a justice, it is also a disappointment that these two young people that were being prepared for a bright future may be heading to a wasted life in the prison. I can only just

World AIDS Day – Reality: Have You Really Wanted To Know

No comments: Links to this post

Today, December 1, we look back again and remember; remember the many friends, brothers, sisters, mothers, dads, colleagues, and dearest ones that have left us due to HIV related illness. And we are united to say, never again! At least, not by our action.

It is even more disturbing when we remember, that in those early days, most of these died because there was no cure or management. But worse above all, most also died in isolation. Because we did not care, because we ran far away from them, because we judged them, or considered them too dangerous to touch or associate with.

May be, you did not do that. May be, you did not even know someone who lived or are living with HIV. May be, you are too self-worthy to have noticed. Actually, may be, just may be, you have been too complacent to give it a thought. Yes, it is not in your backyard, so it won't bother you.
