The Big Brother Racial Row

No comments: Links to this post
I am not a fan of big brother and will rather not top-up my pay-as-you-go electricity meter than tune my TV to that. And as channel 4 makes noise of their viewers growing over 100% in the follow-up of the issue of the Indian actress and Jade, I still did not tune to Big brother. But I am sure, channel 4 is right because a friend of mine actually watched for the first time to see the eviction.

As for the headlines, having listened to the issues carefully on the news and seen shots of the scenes, I think that the whole affair was blown out of proportion through political correctness.

Isn’t it time people be proud of their nature and not run away from it? and far from that, isn’t the Indian actress big enough to above inferiority complex than depending on issues as name calling to rope in sympathy and superficial compassion?

In the first place, while I believe that people have their rights to watch what they want, I think that big brother is some nonsense and Jade is right to behave in a depraving manner towards the actress because that’s what the program appears to encourages if they are going to retain some idle minds for weeks for God-knows what. Isn’t it a setting for liberal life or are they telling us that the show is a sham and a stage work?

Anyway, Jade or whatever she is called, has learnt her lesson in a hard way; next time, she will think before calling names. I totally abhor racism.

Nigeria Remembers

No comments: Links to this post
Today in Nigeria my country, it is Remembrance Day. It is indeed a course I very much identify with although I refuse to identify with war or violence of any type, I still believe that we should, for some moments stop to reflect on the pains and loss of the very souls who by virtue of the crises, became victims.

Exactly 40 years ago in 1967, just seven years after the British colonial government left us to run our affairs, our decisions ended in intolerance, disagreement, hatred and worst of all, violence against ourselves. Eager to each be the leader, weary to recognise ourselves as partners and brothers, we engaged in settling it through bloodshed. And thus came separation – the birth of a seceding state: Biafra.

Like in every scene of war, it is very miraculous to find a family spared of the loss that was to ensue. My mum lost the acquisitions of her young life in the beginning of it. My aunty lost her husband and her first son. She has remained a widow until today bringing up 3 children by herself. Many others abound.

And after that war, Nigeria has sacrificed uncountable soldiers in the pursuance of peace in various African state, the most difficult being in Liberia 15 years ago, which proudly today has a democratic government. And having lived in a military environment, I have had first hand relationship with families, young children, women and men bereft of their loved ones who had gone to Liberia, to Sierra Leone, to Somali, to Rwanda, etc and never made it back alive.

I had been witness to the cries, the agonies, the mourning. It has brought my choir practice to a stand-still, the whole church service turned into a solemn sad gathering, the barracks neighbourhood stilled… remaining soldiers downcast and fearfully waited as they are picked to go to the same death trap.

I remember them also. I remember that young friend who sang tenor in my choir, he died in Sierra Leone 4 months after he finished his training. We saw him briefly when he passed into the army and came home to us. He attended one choir practice, sang his resonant tenor while we all chatted and laughed and fare him well to his duty post after the practice. It was the last we all saw him. The next was to look at his picture and pray for his young soul. He was just 20. I remember him.

There are so many others. The leaders that sent them are still very much around, we the ones they fought to give a peaceful life are still running about, but they are gone. The smile we shared with them, the good and bad times, the jokes, the footballs games we played together, the fathers and brothers and sisters we never know. All these and many others, are the sacrifice these beloved ones made standing themselves in the line to defend us, for the madness of some lunatics. And like it is said, we will remember them.

We will remember them. God rest their souls, Amen.

It Has Turned To Mere Foolishness

No comments: Links to this post
Listening to BBC Thrystan Young as he (or she?) reports on Animal fitness - dont flinch - , I cant but laugh and wonder where the world is heading to.

The whole affair now makes me, in just a twinkle of an eye, think the issue of global warming a mere foolish pursuit; well, completely. Animals exercising? Eating healthy? What sort of rubbish and waste of time and resources are these? I think somebody better start time management on the fools initiating these. A lion need to eat meat and it doesn’t spell bad diet to it neither does a goat eating only forages experiences unhealthy feeding. In the report, Dolphins were shown eating prawns and their weight being checked and pigs eating fruits; even dogs taking a skipping exercise to be fit; (to be fit you ask?). This is absolute madness.

It is high time governments and all the idle people involved look for something else to do than wasting time and resources shouting hoax about global warming. The earth is healthy as it is, the only problem is has is the cheating of poor people by the rich, the killing of the innocents in Iraq and other places, the hunger caused by modern colonization of poor countries by rich companies mining gold, exploiting oil and slaving the people with little or no wage while they take billions of pounds and dollars home as mere bonus.

The real heat will only start when the bottled up emotion of these poor people explode into a revolution and the wicked riches are massacred. Watch out!

Discrimination Against Homosexuals: Unjustified and Unreasonable

No comments: Links to this post
Well, if Bed & Breakfast, hotels, adoption services, etc are ready to deny services to gays, and claims its not discrimination; can they tell us what it is please?

It is funny that humans tend not to learn from our past. In the years running up to the 1960s, blacks faced same harassments in the States until the various resistances by individuals and groups. For someone who claims not to segregate against colours, what justification then has he or she got to segregate against sexuality.

The real issue is this: if you think it is against the bible to render services to people in homosexual relationship, you must be a fool to render services to non Christians because they are also practising what(ever) belief, that the bible does not support. How do you wage that?

To me, I would only accept that B&Bs and the rest of them clamouring for this discrimination be allowed to do it so long as they only serve people of their faith. And for me, no matter what law comes into force, in my favour or theirs, I would, as much as I can, stay away from these wicked souls. If they are forced to accept what they hate, they can give bad service which for now, is very indefinable.

Remember, righteous folks, God created us all and blesses us without any condition. Stop playing God.

Ashes Lost - Blame The Third World War

No comments: Links to this post
Oh dear! England lost the Ashes. And not just loosing it, but in a very humiliating way; 5 – 0; pity – although I do not understand any of those cricket counting and bowling.

It resurrects history, taking us back to 1921 – which most of us know nothing about anyway – blamed on the effects of the just ended first world war, the first and ‘then’ only time England lost all 5 series. That’s understandable to a certain level. After all, there must be an excuse for all our mistakes.

And so, does someone not see the problem why Andrew Flintoff and his men lost this time? I can see it. It’s the third world war, the one Bush and Blair have invented and managing so well (?).

Secondly, the guys have to loose. They were also touched by Saddam’s execution, well, that’s a big part of the third world war. So, we can accept it there is reason to loose. Well done Aussies! and you need it more, at least to send the old guys like Justin Langa away. It builds their history and gives them a more cherishable future.

What award should we give the England team members now? Ambassadors of Sports? At least to facelift their OBE from 2005 victory.
